Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 July 2026
This policy explains what the Halo Discord bot ("Halo", "the bot") stores, what it deliberately never reads, and how to have your data removed. Halo is built to keep the smallest amount of data it needs to run an aura score and economy - nothing more.
Contents
The short version: Halo stores your Discord ID, your public display name and avatar, your aura score and the game state attached to it, and aggregate counts of how many messages you have sent and how many seconds you have spent in voice. It never reads the text of your messages, and it never stores what game you happen to be playing.
1. What Halo stores
For users who interact with the bot or are active in a server where it is installed, Halo keeps:
- Discord identifiers - your user ID, and the server (guild) IDs where you have activity or a score.
- Public profile snippets - your current display name and avatar URL, cached so leaderboards and profile cards can be drawn without re-fetching them.
- Aura score and progression - your current and best aura score, tier, current and longest daily streak, and prestige rank.
- Economy state - your net PvP adjustment (from /steal and /bless), command cooldown timestamps, inventory items, active effects, lottery tickets, and premium membership status.
- Score history - a series of your past aura readings and game results, stored as score values labelled by their source (for example "daily" or "aura"), so /history can chart your progress over time.
- Message activity - counts only. Halo keeps a running count of how many messages you have sent in each server, as a single number. It does not have the Message Content Intent, so it cannot and does not read, store, or log the text of your messages.
- Voice activity - duration only. Halo keeps the total number of seconds you have spent in voice channels in each server, as a single number. It does not record, listen to, or store any audio.
2. What Halo never reads or stores
- Message content. The bot runs without the Message Content Intent. It never reads message text, and it stores no messages, no chat logs, and no DMs.
- Presence / "now playing". The profile card can show what you are currently playing, but that is read live from Discord at the moment the card is drawn and is never stored. Halo keeps no presence, status, or activity history.
- Timelines of behaviour. Message and voice activity are kept only as running totals - not as timestamps of when you spoke or joined a call.
- Sensitive data. Halo does not collect emails, IP addresses, payment details, or any special-category personal data.
3. How the data is used
Stored data is used only to run the bot's own features: computing your aura score, drawing profile and leaderboard cards, tracking streaks and cooldowns, resolving PvP and the economy, running the weekly season, and applying premium perks. It is not used for advertising, profiling outside the bot, or any purpose unrelated to the features you see.
4. Where it is stored
Halo stores its state as plain JSON files on the machine operated by the bot's owner. There is no third-party analytics service and no external database. Reasonable care is taken to keep the host secure, but no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.
5. Sharing
Halo does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Data stays on the operator's host and is only ever displayed back inside Discord (for example on a leaderboard or profile card that other members of your server can see). If paid membership launches, payments will be processed by Discord under Discord's own privacy terms; Halo does not receive or store your payment details.
6. Retention
Data is kept while the bot is in your server and you remain active, so your score and progress persist across restarts. The operator may reset or prune stored state at any time. If the bot is removed from a server, that server's data may be cleared during routine maintenance.
7. Deleting your data
You can ask for your stored data to be deleted at any time. To do so, contact the bot operator (see Contact) with your Discord user ID and the server it relates to. Removing the bot from a server also stops any further data being collected for that server. Deletion requests are honoured on a best-effort basis and may take a short time to process.
8. Age
Halo is not directed at children under Discord's minimum age. To use it you must meet Discord's minimum age for your country (see the Terms of Service for the eligibility requirements). If you believe data belonging to someone under that age has been stored, contact the operator and it will be removed.
9. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use Halo after a change means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or data-deletion requests, contact the bot operator at [CONTACT - e.g. support email or Discord handle].
